Why do you like Nagito Komaeda? Like, what's it is about him that makes you go "oh, that's a cool character". Just to clarify, I'm looking for serious responses, not any joke answers please.
As for why I like him, well, I don't really like him as a person as he has done a lot of bad stuff but as a character I think he's really interesting. He's whole idea behind hope and despair, that despair brings hope and hope brings despair makes sense to him as his luck cycle is very much the same and honestly, I have to agree with Komaeda that that hope and despair are two sides of the same coin. I also kinda like because he generally what's to help but goes about the completely wrong way but like I said, he's definitely not a good person. But yeah, there's something other stuff I would like to say but I won't here as I haven't got time.
DRV2 SPOILERS BELOW. ALSO TW, MENTIONS OF SUICIDE.
Well, his personality in my opinion is extremely well done, a tutorial guide at first, making you think he’s the helper (like Chiaki yknow.) then later in Chapter 1’s trial he was shown to be the ‘antagonist’ character like Byakuya and Kokichi. Out of the DRV2 cast, I feel like he’s the most important character next to Hajime, Chiaki and the other Byakuya. (If you know what I mean.) For me, he’s just a well done character in general, also pretty lovable in my opinion. His character design is pretty cool too! It’s pretty decieving, making you think he’s a friendly, chill guy. It just suits him and Chapter 1’s twist. He’s probably the most smart out of the cast as he discovered about the Neo Program AND about the remnants of despair and how their memories got wiped, he also discovered about the Ultimate Imposter and planned one of the most trickiest cases in the game, a murder disguised as a suicide disguised as a murder. Very smart of him. Overall, I just like the important characters, they stand out to me most.
He has a really interesting and tragic backstory that touches your heart and in all honesty i liked how they based his character of makoto but like an more f*cked version they made him really well
I get that you have a genuine question, but if you’re gonna question someone’s love for a character I suggest not doing it on a forum that is literally a cult dedicated to them unless you want to get attacked. I understand why you are questioning it, but I also think asking that question on this forum of all forums is not very smart. If you don’t like Komaeda and you don’t understand, then you ask elsewhere. Do research, don’t go into a forum filled with dedicated fans and question their love of the character.
I don't like Komaeda as much as some people do, but he's a very intruiging character. The way he views things and the fact that he hated everyone after finding out they were Remnants show how kind of devoted he is to his idea of hope. He had so much of it before the trial in Chapter 4, and then he treats everyone like crap because of how much he despises them due to them being associated with despair. He's like Kokichi: you never know what he's thinking.
Also he just says the most weirdest shit sometimes.
"Bend down and lick my shoes."
"WHY HELLO THERE!"
"Hahahah... Hahahhahahahahhhahahhhahahahahahahahahahahaha-" (more than once)
I can't really explain it, but, to me, he's one of those angsty characters (+400 fans) who, as I've heard, has a hot body (+2K) and is so crazy (+4K) that even just little phrases like "Hello there Hajime" have become a joke (+1K). Also, NicoB made a meme within the fandom with Komaeda and bagels, so that just hightened his popularity outside of his fanbase (+3K) and let's not forget the time where he was abOUT TO SHOOT HIMSELF BUT PLACED HIS LIFE IN THE HANDS OF HIS LUCK, WHO DOES THAT- (+30K)
Most people tend to forget that Komaeda has done really bad things, including literally blowing up Kazuichi and planning to murder somebody, so they say things like how he's innocent and he hasn't done anything bad. I think that's why most people like him so much, but I personally just find him as one of those hilarious jackasses that you cannot escape, like Joshua from The World Ends With You. People love him regardless.
Tbh I don’t even know what drew me to him in the first place. I like his calm, optimistic demeanor; he’s mentally strong despite having to witness his parents die right in front of him. I think that he’s neither a good or a bad person, just a neutral person who’s goals can benefit either side. There’s also the fact that he intentionally avoided other people to protect them from his bad luck. He is pretty apathetic, but I think that really shows his consideration and care for others. Nagito’s intelligence is also very commendable, he’s able to figure out the murder cases quickly and people rely on him for hints. CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS BELOW!!!
plus his death was also complex and bold since his luck could’ve backfired on him. His dedication to hope is very interesting as well, finding out about everyone as well as himself being apart of the ultimate despair he was willing to kill everyone just to provide a better future for the world.
also he’s a woman respecter which is always cool
